Our Story


Vitaly came to life in 2011, while Shane Vitaly Foran was traveling through Bali on a backpacking trip. It was there that he stumbled upon the talents of Balinese woodcarvers, and decided to commission a custom two-finger ring made from black wood. He was so impressed with the final result that he brought back a few rings for his friends in Toronto. The response to the rings was incredible, and Shane quickly realized that there was a massive gap in the men’s accessories market. Seeing an opportunity, Vitaly began to take shape.

Before long, the demand for his rings began to grow, and Shane recruited his long-time friends to help establish Vitaly as a global lifestyle fashion brand. Within the first few years, Vitaly’s offering expanded to include a full range of stainless steel accessories, clothing and watches. Today, Vitaly’s product is sold by hundreds of retailers globally, and proudly worn by musicians, artists and athletes all over the world.

To stay on top of his game, Shane now makes frequent trips to visit his production facilities in Europe, Asia and Canada. Fuelled by the industrial nature of the manufacturing process itself, he often mocks up his concepts right on the factory floor, a technique that has led to the sleek, structural designs Vitaly has become known for.

Each Vitaly collection follows the principle that there’s rebellion in simplicity. For inspiration, Shane looks to punk rock, where each song is four basic chords used to incite a riot, and Scandinavian minimalism, a movement that passionately declares “less is more.” Vitaly strives to elevate the everyday with carefully placed details, and trusts that “simple” can make enough noise to fill a room — if you let it.

Today, Vitaly is still run by the same four friends who started it all. Shane holds the title of CEO and lead designer, while Jason Readman heads up operations, Zack Vitiello oversees creative and Michael Andrews manages sales on a global scale. We also have an ever-growing team of incredible staff that have become a 40+ person family.
