Overall the akoya is exactly what I was looking for!

It pairs nicely with Vitaly’s pearl earrings (I forget their name). I got the 50cm chain with 6mm pearls - something I felt had solid length and could stand on its own, or had layering potential. The 6mm pearls are nearly the same size as the steel balls providing a smooth transition between materials.
The clasp is the same as the Transit chain, which I love for how sturdy and secure it feels. The only issue I’ve noticed, is that it has a tendency to slide around to the front, leaving the clasp as the center presentation. This may be due to personal anatomy, or the nature of the design - either way it is an easy fix and does not bother me much as I enjoy an off-center look.
Time will tell how well it holds up, but for the first week we’re doing pretty well so far!
